Intention for January

We pray with the Church and the World: The Faith of Christians.  That in this Year of Faith Christians may deepen their knowledge of the mystery of Christ and witness joyfully to the gift of faith in him.

Missionary Intention:  Middle Eastern Christians.   That the Christian communities of the Middle East, often discriminated against, may receive from the Holy Spirit the strength of fidelity and perseverance.

During this year of 2013 the United Nations invites us to raise awareness, both the potential of increased cooperation and the challenges facing water management in light of the increase in demand for water access, allocation and services.

As the year begins on the feast day of Mary, Mother of God, we pray with the words of Const. 1.6 In her constand journeying, Mary Ward, the pilgrim, turned to the Mother of God for strength and solace.  Placed with her Son, we too rely on the Mother of God to support us on our pilgrimage in the Institute.

Intention for December

We pray with the Church and the world for Ministers of the Gospel:  That bishops, priests and all ministers of the Gospel may bear the courageous witness of fidelity to the crucified and risen Lord.  Missionary Intention:  Pilgrim Church:  That the pilgrim Church on earth may shine as a light to the nations.

Association of Catholic Priests/Association of Catholics in Ireland conference, 9-10 November 2012

Louise O’Sullivan IBVM

The ACP/ACI conference took place over 9 and 10 November 2012.  The first input was given by Fr Peter McVerry.  The full text is actually on the Association of Catholic Priests’ website.   He spoke of justice being about right relationships with God and with each other and, from his perspective, about the transformative illumination given by the homeless people with whom he works, on new and exciting ways of engaging with the Gospel of Jesus.   Peter’s talk was eloquent and grounded in the reality of a compassionate God and of a life lived on the edge with the people whom he loves.
