General Introduction

The IBVM (Loreto), Institute & Irish Province Archives collects & preserves records of enduring value of the IBVM (Loreto) Generalate and Irish Province, from 1821 to the present day.

We are committed to sharing and making available these records with the wider community, preserving records of ministry, mission, governance and individual members.

Our Archives consist of two, separate collections – the IBVM (Loreto), Institute Archives holds records of the administrative history of this branch of Mary Ward’s Institute; i.e. the papers of the Institute Leadership/Generalate, Institute Leaders/Superior Generals, the Institute Leadership Team/General Council, and minutes of General Chapters and Congregations.

The Archive includes a reference library on Mary Ward and IBVM (Loreto) history.
