As Loreto Sisters we value our rich heritage spanning over 400 years. We endeavour to follow the vision of our founders Mary Ward, Teresa Ball and their companions, who strove passionately to answer the needs of their time in spite of major obstacles.  Today, we continue as they did, to serve the needs of our time in the 21st century.  We do so enriched by our relationship with Christ and our commitment to living Gospel values through our vowed life.

We welcome enquiries about religious life.  The journey to become a Loreto Sister involves progressing through the following stages: Candidacy – Novitiate – Temporary Profession of Vows – Final Profession of Vows

This is a journey of eight to nine years.  This period of time affords those interested and the congregation the opportunity to discern the way forward.

After the initial enquiry stage, those interested are welcome to meet with a Loreto Sister from the Vocations Committee and confidential communication links are kept open in subsequent months.  During this time the person is accompanied in her search to discern if God is calling her to this way of life.

Jesus said to the people:

I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life’.

John 8:12
