Loreto Rumbek Primary and Secondary School
Loreto Rumbek School, is one of many Loreto schools and colleges worldwide to have been founded by the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM).
It was founded in 2008 and from small beginnings now provides education at both Primary and Secondary level for girls aged from 5 to 20.
Challenges faced by the school
Loreto Rumbek faces a number of challenges, including limited resources and the ongoing conflict in South Sudan, which has disrupted the lives of many families in the region.
Despite these challenges, the school has continued to operate and has had a positive impact on the lives of many young girls in the area, providing them with a valuable education and the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

A new Healthcare Centre
Loreto’s Mary Ward Primary Health Care Centre opened in 2018 and is the newest of the core programs at Loreto Rumbek. The Clinic serves the school and the wider community the clinic. Just some of the services is provides is basic health education and nutrition support, water sanitation and hygiene education, Maternal and well-baby care, provision of essential drugs and supplies to those with minor illnesses and conditions, support and counselling.
The Health Care Centre continues to provide vital access to quality healthcare and support for the school and local community.
